While our Grief Support Groups are on hold, we will be hosting a Book Club which can hopefully still provide support for those looking for something.

The book we have selected is titled, Bearing the Unbearable by Joanne Cacciatore, PhD. This book comes highly recommended with wonderful reviews.

The book club is informal, and we will break down the chapters each week that we will discuss.

We will meet 4 times for this book, at Forastiere Smith, 220 North Main St. East Longmeadow, MA from 6:30pm - 8pm. Doors will open at 6 if you wish to come in and mingle before we begin.

Tuesday January 30th - Lunch & Learn

Thank you to the Wilbraham Senior Center for having us! It was such a great event, there were many stories shared and questions that were asked & answered. Gary Szewczyk, Loren Forastiere and Kathleen Brunelle were grateful to share their knowledge with the Wilbraham community and look forward to going back!

Thank you to Pleasant Valley Senior Center in East Longmeadow from a wonderful Lunch & Learn seminar. And Thank You to Attorney Stephen Manning who joined us today. It was a well attended event with a lot of information! We look forward to doing this again!

Thank you to the Agawam Senior Center for hosting us, along with Attorney Nick Kubacki from McLane & McLane Attorneys at Law for our Resources and Refreshments Seminar. It was a huge success with the number of people who attended, the information shared and all the questions we were able to ask and answer.

Holiday Remembrance Ceremony

site image

On December 6th and December 7th, we held our annual Holiday Remembrance Ceremony. Both nights were filling reflection, love and peace. This year, each person being remembered had an ornament with their photo in it. Their name was called and then their family placed the ornament on our Remembrance Tree, then lit a candle in their memory. After everyone was called, we had music playing along with a video of everyone being remembered. One comment made after the ceremony, "The event was so personal but yet so much a community feel. All the people in that room had a story that they held deep in their core, and I felt a piece of that."

We appreciate being a part of your healing journey. When we say that we are here for you, we truly mean it. Thank you to the families who came out, we hope this holiday season is filled with peace, comfort and memories that bring a smile to your face.

Toys for Tots 2023

Forastiere is happy to partner with the Western Mass Toys for Tots program again this year. During the month of November we collected new and unwrapped toys at all four of our locations. We would like to thank all the staff and community members who contributed. This was a huge success!

Pre-Planning Seminar

We had the pleasure of hosting a pre-planning seminar at Pleasant View Senior Center! We had a packed room and a great bunch of attendees. They were engaged as our pre-planning director, Gary Szewczyk, shared stories from his life that led him to understand the importance of pre-planning funeral services. Loren Forastiere had the opportunity to introduce the seminar and speak to those in attendance afterwards. The audience had great questions and we couldn't have asked for a better seminar!!

Thrive After 55 Event

Gary Szewczyk and Rebekah Curtis had a great time hosting the table at this year's Thrive After 55 event held at Western New England University! Not only were we able to give people valuable information on our pre-planning services, but we were also able to raffle off a board of scratch tickets as well! The Thrive After 55 not only allowed local businesses to connect with the community, but hosted lunch, gave valuable tips & advice, and raffled off some amazing door prizes!

East Longmeadow 4th of July Parade

What a faithful staff! During East Longmeadow's 4th of July Parade, Ambassadors Alicia Balboni and Hunter Acconcio, and Funeral Director, Brian Kastner, spent some time handing out water to those watching the parade! We had the funeral home open so that people could use the bathroom and allowed those who wanted a good view to park in our parking lot. So thankful for these volunteers that allowed this to happen!!
