Nancy King Dean

Nancy King Dean, 83, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2019 at Heritage Hall East, Agawam, MA. Born in New York, New York on October 9, 1936 to the late Thomas Boyce and Jenny “Jane” (Fitzpatrick) King, she grew up in Fairfield, CT and spent many wonderful years on the Connecticut shore with her family. She loved Long Island Sound and enjoyed swimming and collecting sea shells on the beach. She taught her two little girls to swim there too.
 
Nancy married her college sweetheart Leo and had two daughters, Deirdre and Nancy. Later in life, Nancy met Ronald Dean who became her second husband. After retirement, she loved to barbecue and garden with Ron in the summer and watch Masterpiece Theatre with Ron or paint in watercolor on her own. They both shared a love of reading and their darling golden retrievers, Cassie, Ginger and Star, that Nancy faithfully walked every morning in the woods.

She spent the latter part of her life under the care of the kind staff of Heritage Hall. Her daughters will be forever grateful for that warmth. Nancy was known to staff as a kind woman who had a broad and welcoming smile. She also leaves her blessed roommate behind. 
 
Besides her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her husband Ronald Dean and her older brother Tom. She leaves her beloved daughters Deirdre Curran, M.D. and her husband Wayne Duke, M.D. of Northampton and Nancy Curran of East Hartford, CT; her grandchildren Tom and Maddy, as well as her siblings Bob and Kathy.
 
Services will be private for the family.
