Michael A. Talty
1976 – 2019

Springfield - Michael A. Talty, 42, was born on August 25, 1976 and passed away unexpectedly at home on August 9, 2019. Michael was the beloved son of William P. Talty and Angela M. Manzi, both of Springfield; and the cherished stepson of Heather I. Talty of Springfield and Mark Penndorf, also of Springfield. Michael was employed by the City of Springfield for the past 23 years, most recently working at Washington Street School, where he left lasting impressions on the staff and children. He was a member of the Springfield Lodge of Elks #61, and he tended bar at the VFW #7352 in Forest Park for over 20 years. Michael will always be remembered for being selfless. He would drop everything to help someone in need, whether it was a family member, friend, or even an acquaintance. His smile was sweet and his laugh infectious. He had an amazing personality with a heart of gold. Michael was a devoted son, spending nearly every Saturday on “Keno dates” with his beloved mother and countless hours cheering on Boston Sports teams with his dad. Michael and the love of his life, Leslie Rose, had a bond that many could only dream about. They brought the best out in each other. Michael looked forward to family vacations with his nieces and nephew where he’d spoil them with fun. He had many friends from all walks of life. Saying he will be missed is an understatement. Michael is survived by his parents and step parents; his soulmate, Leslie Rose, and her son, Anthony Nascembeni, both of Springfield; his sister, Christine Lunsford, and her husband Richard, of East Longmeadow; his nieces, Madeline and Gabriella, and his nephew, Ricky, all of whom looked up to and adored their Uncle Mike; paternal grandmother, Mary Talty; maternal grandfather, Angelo Manzi;: many aunts and uncles, cousins, and extended family; and an abundance of friends. Michael was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Patrick Talty; his maternal grandmother, Christina Manzi; as well as his step-grandparents, Robert and Muriel Gross. The family will gather and receive friends from 4:00PM – 7:00PM on Friday, August 16th, 2019, in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow.
