Mary Turner

Mary Turner, 92, passed away on March 13, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born in Thompsonville, CT on February 9, 1927 to the late Nicholas and Sophie (Altiparmakis) Theofiles, she was a 1944 graduate of Enfield High School.

Prior to retirement, she worked in the East Longmeadow Town Clerk’s Office. She was also very involved in the St. Luke Ladies Philoptochos Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cross stitch and reading.  Mary loved to share stories of her life with her family and friends.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Howard E. Turner, who passed away in 1984; her brother Costas “Gus” Theofiles and her sister Helen Theofiles. To cherish her memory, she leaves her children Elaine (Turner) Balicki and her husband Jan of West Brookfield, MA, Paul Turner and his wife Jamie of Springfield, MA and Clifford Turner and his wife Cindy of Ocala, FL; grandchildren Ashley, Brian, Rachel, Alina, Amanda, Ben and Nichole; her sister Sarah Lefakis of Enfield, CT  and her brother John Theofiles and his companion Lottie of FL. Mary also leaves her much loved nieces and nephews as well as her church community.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 4-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. Mary will lie in state on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 9 - 10 AM at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 400 Prospect St. East Longmeadow, MA with a service at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Baptist Village Cemetery.
