July 23, 1931 ~ July 18, 2019 (age 87) 87 Years Old
FEEDING HILLS – Marianne F. Gregor, 87, beloved wife of 65 years to the late James G. Gregor, passed away on July 18, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born in Queens, NY on July 23, 1931 to the late Joseph P. and Vera (Martinelli) Ferrara, she was a 1948 graduate of John Adams High School in Queens. She attended Queens College and graduated from Westfield State in 1969 with her Bachelor’s Degree, and in 1972 with her Master’s in Education. She was a communicant at St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam and served as a Eucharistic Minister from the church at Heritage Hall in Agawam. She was also a devoted participant in Bible study and prayer groups in Agawam and at her former residence in Port Richey, Florida. For 23 years, Marianne was a teacher at Suffield High School, retiring in 1992. She also was Chairman of the English Department for 5 years and served on the adjunct faculty at the University Connecticut Cooperative English Program. For 15 years after retirement, she worked for Pearson Co. scoring teacher licensing exams for many states. She volunteered on the Agawam Center Library Association Committee for 50 years, on the Agawam Arts and Humanities Council, and also as a tutor at Agawam High School. Besides her husband, Marianne was predeceased by her sister Geraldine Messina. To cherish her memory, she leaves her sons, Christopher Gregor and his wife Maryellen of New Marlborough, MA; Geoffrey Gregor of Koloa, HI; and Douglas Gregor and his wife Cheryl of Northville, NY; grandchildren, Christina, Devon, Bailey, Madison, Nicholas, and Seth and his wife Brittany as well as her great-granddaughters, Madilyn and Isabelle. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 23rd from 4-7 PM at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24th at 8:45 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal services will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
