Lawrence R. Bauer

Wilbraham – Lawrence R. Bauer Jr., 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019. He was born on November 9, 1932 in Long Island City, NY, the son of the late Lawrence R. and Margaret (Keil) Bauer. He was a graduate of Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY. After his service in Korea in the US Army, Lawrence began his professional career in the Plastic Injection Molding Industry lasting for over 35 years at Package Machinery Company in East Longmeadow, Polymer Machinery in Berlin, CT and then ARBURG in Newington, CT. He retired as Executive Vice President. One of the highlights of his career was being President of SPI (The Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.). He was a member of the Longmeadow Country Club for many years. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Above all, he was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always put his family first and will be greatly missed. He is survived by the love of his life since they were 15 years old, his devoted wife of 63 years, Gladys (MacGillivray) Bauer; 3 children, Pamela Foster and her husband Timothy of Southwick, Karen Hoy and her husband Stephen of Monson, and Lawrence Bauer and his wife Brenda of Chicopee; his 5 grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Matthew, Nicholas, Derek and his wife Megan, Gregory, and Joshua; his 4 great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Noah, Declan, and Finn. He was predeceased by his sister Geraldine Bauer. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut St., Springfield, 01199.
