Obituary

John M. “Jack” Sinico, 81, former resident of Southwick, MA for over 45 years; passed away peacefully February 14, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Born December 4, 1938 in Pittsfield, MA, he was a son to the late Marcel J. and Martha A. (Donnachie) Sinico. Jack graduated from Pittsfield High School and later married Beverly J. Zimmerman on October 31, 1959. Together they raised three children. He was a salesperson with Berkshire Coca Cola, later was the district sales manager for W.J. Connell Co. and retired as a sales manager with Allen Lawnmower in 2002. Jack served on countless boards and committees including an elected member of the Southwick Democratic Town Committee for 36 years where he was honored with the “Democrat of the Year” award, elected Delegate to the Democratic State Convention for many years, former member of the Board of Trustees, member and Vice Chair of the Hampden County Democratic Committee; member and Chair on the Southwick Board of Appeals, member of the Southwick Regional School District Committee, member of the Sewer Implementation Committee, and had been appointed and served on the Southwick Board of Registrars and Election Committee for several years. Jack had been awarded “Citizen of the Year” by the Southwick Grange in 1990 and won the Selectman’s seat in the Annual Town Election in 1991. He was also past member of the Order of Eagles and the Southwick Lions Club. When not focused on local politics and community involvement, Jack loved sports, especially the New York Yankees, New England Patriots and UCONN basketball. His greatest passion, however, was spending time with his family who he loved dearly. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Beverly, he is survived by his son Keith J. Sinico of Southwick; daughter Jacqueline Clark and her husband, John of Middletown, CT; grandchildren Joshua and Jennifer Clark; brother Thomas J. Sinico of Lebanon, PA; sister Judith Bellora of Pittsfield, MA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his son Mark Sinico; brother Robert Sinico; sister Marion Clifford and daughter-in-law Candice J. Most. Calling hours for Jack will be held from 11AM-1PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick where there will be a funeral service beginning at 1PM. Burial will be in the Southwick New Cemetery in the spring.
