Jean Dunford

Longmeadow - Jean Muriel Dunford, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center with her daughters by her side. She was born in Keene, NH to the late Ralph and Sybil (Burnell) Dunford on June 17, 1933. After graduating high school in Windsor, CT, Jean attended the Mary Hitchcock Nursing program at Dartmouth College. She later went on to further her education at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan where she graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Development. Jean retired in 2002 from the nuclear division of ABB (formally Combustion Engineering) where she worked as an Administrative Assistant for over 12 years. Jean was an avid reader who loved books, animals, and political history. Jean was a passionate advocate for the rights of children with learning disabilities. She cofounded the Michigan chapter of the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (MACLD) where she served as president for several years. Jean leaves her 4 daughters, Tracy Mayo and Lynn Mayo both of Longmeadow, Whitney Guerber of Michigan, and Leslie Burnell of Holyoke. All services are private at the convenience of the family.
