James J. Aubin

With greatest sadness, James J. Aubin, 76, quietly left his family, whom were by his side at home on November 26, 2020. James was a graduate of Technical High School and started a 40-year career, first at Popular Market, then at Stop & Shop as a Deli Manager and Meat Cutter. James served in the Army Reserves for 21 years as a Master Sergeant in Medical Service. Jim was very active in his community, and he served as President of the Pine Point Community Council for nearly 20 years; served as Vice President of the Sixteen Acres Civic Association, and was a board member of the Southcoast Health and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). He loved to travel, especially cruises, he loved hockey, and he completely enjoyed western movies and all things Goofy. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 55 years Carol (Magee) Aubin of Springfield, his children Mark Aubin and his wife, Lisa of West Springfield, and Jennifer Colglazier and her partner John Wynn of Springfield. “Bumpa” leaves his 5 grandchildren Kylie, Korey, Lindsay, Steven and Anthony, and his little joy great-granddaughter Mya. He also leaves sister-in-law Susan Magee and lifelong friend Nancy McGuill. The friends he had and made were too many to mention. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his son, Keith Aubin, and his brother, Roland Aubin. The family would like to thank Jim’s favorite nurse Stella, the staff and nurses at Amedisys and the girls who worked with him and especially Dr. James Freeman, and the staff from Hospice, especially Rose. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday December 3, 2020 from 3-6 pm in Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow. A service will follow at 6:00 pm. Burial will be held privately by the family.
