Obituary

Gary Harold Geissler, 76, of West Springfield, MA; passed away peacefully Monday, January 11, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 6, 1944 in Holyoke, MA, he was a son to the late Harold and Pauline (Sattler) Geissler. He grew up in West Springfield, MA and was a 1962 graduate of West Side High School. He continued his education by earning his Bachelor’s Degree at George Washington University and later his Master’s Degree at Tufts University. Gary was a cartographer/geodesist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers/Map Service and later with the U.S. Geological Survey. He was also a team member assigned to build Sea of Tranquility and Copernicus Crater pre-launch lunar landing site models for the Apollo/Gemini missions, and was a Technical Applications Marketer for Beltway computer Graphic outfits including Prime Computer, Data General and Computervision, Inc. In retirement, Gary enjoyed his position as appraiser for Cabela’s Gun Library in East Hartford, CT. He was also an avid shooter of classic firearms and attended several matches over the years. He deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 40 years Lorilee “Lori” (Kistner) Geissler; son Zachary James Geissler; daughter Rebekah Truth Geissler; his precious grandchildren who cherished their “Papa”, Ashley Kimball Bick, Portia Echo Bick, and Brad Elisha Bick; adored great-granddaughter Leia Aurora Watkins; and several other loving relatives and friends. A private scattering ceremony will be held at the convenience of his family. Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, Agawam, MA has been entrusted with arrangements.
