Eugene Ryczek

Longmeadow- Eugene S. Ryczek 74, passed peacefully on May 30, 2020. He was the husband of 51 years to Mary (Diotalevi) Ryczek.
Eugene was born and raised in Chicopee a son of the late Stanley and Alice (Maczka) Ryczek. He was a 1963 graduate of Chicopee High School. Eugene graduated in 1967 from Westfield State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree .He received his C.A.G.S. from the University of Massachusetts. Gene was a teacher of Mathematics at Enrico Fermi High School in Enfield, retiring after 42 years. During his tenure, he coached baseball, basketball, and cross country running for 27 years. Gene was Adjunct Professor at WNEC, Supervisor of Education at Westfield State University and a member of the Enfield and Connecticut Teacher’s Association. He was a member of three high school baseball championship teams, and was inducted into the Chicopee High Baseball Hall of Fame and Western Massachusetts State Championship Baseball Hall of Fame. Gene was dedicated to his wife and family. There was nothing he would not do nor give to his family. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He loved watching his children and grandchildren playing sports, spending time at the beach on Cape Cod, gardening, and golfing. You could guarantee he’d be watching or listening to his beloved Red Sox. In addition to his wife, Gene leaves his children, Kevin Ryczek and Kara Ryczek of Longmeadow; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Regan, and Nolan Ryczek, Lincoln and Beatrice Benson; brother and sister in law, Ronald and Jean Ryczek of Chicopee; sister in law Margaret Diotalevi Thompson of Longmeadow; brother in law and sister in law, James and Patricia Diotalevi of Wilbraham. Gene also leaves several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
