ETHELBERT HOLLAND LOW “Holly”

Longmeadow- Holly Low, 89, died on Tuesday the 3rd of September 2019 in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Born January 18, 1930 in New York, New York, he was the son of E. Herrick Low, and Mary Holland Ford, and brother of Elizabeth Low Stewart. 
He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Crane Low of a 55 year marriage, son Charles Low of Sarasota Florida, and daughters Elizabeth Low Cash of Los Angeles, California, Lollie Low Mathews of Fairfield, Connecticut as well as 3 grandchildren Mary Holland Mathews, John Hudson Mathews and Violet Marilyn Cash. 
Holly grew up in New York City, where he attended Allen Stevenson School. He later went to St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. A graduate of University of Virginia in 1953, Holly was a 4-year letter winner of the UVA’s Varsity swim team. 
Upon graduation, he started off his career as a Page at NBC in New York City. His roles within NBC would eventually lead him to become the National Sales Manager at WWLP TV 22 in Springfield, Mass. After leaving New York City, Holly would move to “Pardon Me” in Belchertown, Massachusetts where he and the love of his life Marilyn would eventually live for 8 years. Mernie and Holly would then settle in Longmeadow Massachusetts in 1971. 
Among many hobbies, Holly was an avid fly fisherman and professional Magician. He loved to travel to Canada to fly fish at The Tabisentac Salmon Club. Holly never missed an opportunity to perform a magic trick in front of any audience.
Holly was a member of the National Brotherhood of Magicians, Ducks Unlimited, Longmeadow Country Club, Holland Lodge and The Union Club of NYC. A memorial service will be held Monday September 9, 2019 at 11:00am in the Christ Church Cathedral, 35 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA.
