Dorothy E. Coon

Dorothy Bruneau (Millot) Coon, 97, of Agawam, MA passed peacefully on December 21, 2018. Dorothy was born on July 18, 1921 in Southwick, MA to the late George and Ellen (Washburn) Millot. Dorothy was a graduate of Westfield State College and had a long fulfilling career in special education in the Agawam school system where she met her second husband James Coon, Jr. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, golf, and played an integral role in the lives of her grandchildren. She was preceded by her husbands Armand Bruneau and James Coon, Jr, her beloved son Paul Bruneau, as well as her sisters Bertha Hart and her husband Frank, Marjorie Millot, Shirley Cassanelli and her husband Albert. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Stanly Millot and his wife Jean of Springfield, MA, her sons David Bruneau of Monson, MA, and William Bruneau of Elgin, OK. To continue her legacy, she leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Christine Bruneau of PA, Lindsey Corbin of PA, Joanna Bruneau of Belchertown, MA, Ashley Salvador and her husband Ryan of Wilbraham, MA, Justin Bruneau and his wife Tammy of Southwick, MA, Chelsea O’Neil and her husband Tanner of LA, and Gabrielle Bruneau of OK. Dorothy also leaves 16 great grandchildren. “You are the sun Grandma…you are the sun in our lives”. Services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001. Burial will follow in the Agawam Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Agawam Congregational Church and/or the Agawam Public Library, 750 Cooper St., Agawam, MA 01001.
