Obituary

Springfield – Carmen E. (Sweeney) Paquette, 86, entered into Eternity April 19, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center. Born on November 7, 1932 in Barton, VT to the late Edmond and Rose (Dube) Sweeney. Carmen soon moved to Chicopee Falls and attended St. George School there. She worked in the field of computer building, retiring from Digital Equipment Corporation as a supervisor of circuit board assembly. She was a member of the Hungry Hill Senior Center and she enjoyed knitting hats and mittens which she donated to the children of Springfield. She was a member of Mary Mother of Hope Church and enjoyed time spent with family. She leaves her son Daniel Paquette and his wife Laura of Northfield, VT; her daughter Debra Cassidy and her husband Kevin of Manchester, CT; her 5 grandchildren Patrick, Kelly, and Matthew Paquette, Sean Terry and his wife Lindsey Perrotti, and Bethany Terry and her fiancé Adam Terzi; 2 step-grandchildren Matthew and Colin Cassidy; 1 great-grandson Skylar Terzi; her sister Doris Sheltra of Springfield, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years Lucien A. Paquette; 2 brothers Leo-Paul and Fernand Sweeney; and 2 sisters Rejeanne Faucher and Stella Rondeau. Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. Liturgy of Christian burial will be held Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:30am in Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA. Burial will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made in Carmen’s name may be made to the American Lung Association, 393 Maple Street, Springfield, MA 01105 or the Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
