Richard I. Anderson, 82, passed away on February 7, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Jamestown, NY on October 8, 1935, he was the son of the late F. Rodger and Ruth (Waterman) Anderson. He graduated from Forestville Central School before joining the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from May, 1955 – April, 1959 where he obtained the rank of Sergeant (E-4).

He then attended SUNY Albany, completed his Post Graduate Studies from the University of Texas and received his MBA from Western New England University. Richard worked in data processing for many years and was employed by various firms including IBM, Honeywell, Baystate Medical Center, and Finast. A longtime member for First Congregational Church in East Longmeadow, he was a Deacon and served on several committees. He was a man of many passions including the Boston Red Sox and the Springfield Museum Lectures. Richard’s family will fondly remember him for his sense of humor, passionate journaling and for being a writer of long Christmas letters.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife Alice (Huff) Anderson; sons Eric (Barbara), Peter and Alan (Laura) and grandchildren Emily, Tyler, Thomas, Max, Jack and Raven. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11 AM at First Congregational Church, 7 Somers Rd. East Longmeadow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
