Jennie Choiniere

July 9, 1925 ~ February 6, 2018 (age 92) 92 Years Old
Springfield – Jennie A. (Albano) Choiniere, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday February 6th 2018 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Armand Choiniere on June 14, 1995. Born in Springfield, MA on July 9, 1925 to Italian immigrant parents Immacolata (Daniele) and Giovanni Albano, Jennie reflected the valued characteristics of the “greatest generation”. The great depression along with the struggle to integrate into a new culture demanded hard work and reliance on family. So from a very young age, Jennie worked in the home to help maintain a loving and supportive environment. She was one of eight children, a sister and six brothers, so the home was always hustling with family and friends. While always busy, Jennie acquired her high school degree. She possessed superior verbal and writing skills and was an excellent typist. Her ability to both speak and write in Italian was remarkable. Listening to her send written correspondence from the “old country” was truly a delight and many hours were spent responding with love. Post her marriage to Armand, Jennie worked outside the home mostly preparing tax documents for a local firm in Springfield. Never one to love driving, she used the city bus both to and from work each day. Jennie loved to read, write, listen to music, go to the shows and movies and was a terrific cook. We were spoiled. But mostly, she thoroughly enjoyed all activities that involved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her smile was always present during these cherished times. Family was the center of her world. Jennie is survived by her beloved sister, Mary Giuliana and brother, Thomas Albano. She also leaves her sons, Thomas and Robert and his wife Deborah; grandchildren, Justin, Lindsay and Michael and great-grandchildren, Lexi, Callie, Braeden and Aubrie. She will be sadly missed by all, including many nieces and nephews as well as extended family. We would like to thank all consultants and staff who have joined us in the support of mom over these past 14 months. Caring for loved ones in their declining years is a difficult road to navigate and we could not have done it without you. These cherished people included, her son, Thomas, Prime Home Health, Heritage Nursing Home, Mercy Hospice and Brunelle Consultant, LLC. Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Sunday February 11th from 1-3PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Jennie’s funeral will be held on Monday February 12th starting at 8:45 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM at Holy Cross Church 221 Plumtree Rd., Springfield. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jennie’s memory to the Mercy Hospice, P.O.
