SPRINGFIELD – Helen L. DeMaio, 87, passed away on February 13, 2018 at Chapin Center. A lifelong resident of Springfield, she was born on April 5, 1930 to the late Rose (Serafino) Trimboli. Retiring from Laragones Rehabilitation Facility in 2012 after 15 years of employment, she had previously worked at Gemini Corporation as a Lab Tech for 14 years, Mass Mutual for 5 years and as a Teacher’s Aide in the Springfield School System for 5 years. Helen was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Auxiliary. She was also a member of Stella De Italia. Predeceased by her loving husband Carmino DeMaio who she married on July 21, 1949 and her brother Anthony Trimboli, she leaves to cherish her memory her sons Anthony and his wife Kim and Carmino DeMaio both of Springfield and her grandchildren Angela, Antonio, Briana and Sonia. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 17, 2017 from 8 - 9 AM at Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 45 Locust Street, Springfield. Funeral services will begin at 9 AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 123 William Street, Springfield. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield. Memorial contributions in Helen’s name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
