May 29, 1958 ~ March 20, 2024 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Obituary

Beth Odentz, 65, of Longmeadow, MA passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2024. She was born on May 29, 1958 to Rita and Gilbert Greenspan in Glen Cove, NY. Her family moved around during her childhood, relocating first to Brooklyn, NY and ultimately to Springfield, MA where they settled. She spent her childhood growing up in the shadow of a large Victorian house across from Forest Park. She attended sailing camp in Martha’s Vineyard in 1974 during the filming of Jaws, forever cementing both a love of sailing and a fear of sharks. She graduated from Classical High School in 1976 and went on to study at Skidmore College.

Beth will be remembered for her sharp wit, her generosity, and as an excellent cook. She was quick to regale people with adventures from her youth and offer blunt opinions on matters at hand. She loved watching classic black and white movies, interspersed with reality TV, and listening to classic rock. She was an excellent baker and even better cook who imparted these loves on her children. Above all, she was always thinking of the people around her. She loved perusing catalogues and magazines to find the perfect gift for her children and grandchildren.

Beth and her husband, Robin Odentz, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2024, which they spent together in the comfort of their home. Until the end, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Beth is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband Robin, children Jacob Odentz (Rachel Klemmer) and Simon Odentz (Tram Hoang), grandchildren Everett and Eleanor, and siblings Kate Greenspan and Steven Greenspan. The family would like to acknowledge and extend gratitude to caregivers Patti Cote and Filomena Kelly for the comfort, care, and companionship they provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Baystate Health Foundation, Attn: Home Health- Hospice, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199 or via https://www.baystatehealth.org/giving, an organization that provided excellent care in her final few weeks.
